Thursday Night Photography: iPhone Pictures

#Photography #iPhone5 #iphoneography I've been reading about iphoneography and noticed that some people were getting very nice shots from their iphones. I need to do some more research on the right apps to get, but here are some quick photos I took from my iPhone 5. I used the basic camera app then imported the pictures into photoshop and did some post processing with the Perfectly Clear filter. With the time changing occurring this weekend, it will be much harder to get cloud photos during the week because it will be dark by 5PM. Winter is coming!!!

Thursday Night Photography: San Clemente Metrolink Beach

#SanClemente #Beach #Metrolink #Photography Due to a busy work week, I haven't gotten a chance to shoot some new photos. I went through my library and found some beach photos at the San Clemente Metrolink Station from October 2012. I like this beach because you can see the train passing by ever hour or so on the weekend. The waves were rough and they claimed my son's slipper. I used my Olympus Pen E-P3 and the kit lens (14-42mm f/3.5-5.6) to take all of the photos.

Thursday Night Photography: Pentacon 135mm Prime Lens

#GetOlympus #Pentacon #Fotodiox #Photography I recently picked up an old prime lens made in Germany around the 1960s. The Pentacon 135mm f/2.8 (Meyer Orestor 15 blades) lens is also known as the Bokeh Monster due to the creamy blur it creates when you use it. Even though the lens is old and uses an M42 mount (screw mount), I was able to find an M42 to Micro Four Thirds mount from Fotodiox. The person who I bought the lens from took care of it like it was a newborn child and it is in excellent condition. Since my #Olympus OM-D E-M1 has stabilization on the body, I don't have to worry about blurring caused by the lens. The new Olympus bodies are probably the reason why old lens prices went from dirt cheap in 2010 to pricey today.

When I was reviewing the lens with a coworker, we didn't realize there were several different versions of this lens. As a result, I actually ended up buying 2 different lenses on accident. The one that is very nice has 15 blades and the one that people say to avoid has 6 blades. I'll take some photos with the 6 bladed lens and put up some pictures in my next post or two. Both lenses are old and require the use of manual settings which means no fancy auto focus. I still have decent eyes (or so I think) and can toy around with the manual focus for now. For anyone curious, the red stuffed doll which belongs to my kids is from a popular TV show in Japan called Youkai Watch.  The top of my IKEA TV cabinet which is white also produces some nice "product" photos.

Orange County International Auto Show 2014

#OCAutoShow #Autoshow #Anaheim The annual OC International Auto Show runs from October 2-5 at the Anaheim Convention Center. If you have some time, check it out! I went to the show on Thursday and got some great photos. It caused me to miss my usual Thursday Night Photography post, but it was worth it! I've never done car photography but was excited at a chance to use my #GetOlympus OM-D E-M1 at the event. My Zuiko 12-50mm lens was used for a majority of the photos and I also got some in with the Zuiko 70-300mm and a Pentacon 135mm. Here are the brands I came across: #Audi #Volkswagon #Lexus #Acura #Nissan #Hyundai #Jeep #Ford #BMW #Mercedes #Honda #Toyota #Ferrari #Lamborghini #Chrysler #Kia #Mazda #Jaguar #Dodge #Subaru #Infiniti #Chevrolet #Buick #Fiat. #Mitsubishi was MIA. If I could walk away with a car from the show, I would pick the 1969 Mercedes 190L Roadster or the Audi R8 Spyder.
